Chris Phillips, Senior Consultant

Chris Phillips Chris Phillips has over 20 years’ experience in Management Development. He has a passionate belief that people are the key to success in any organisation.

Chris's background was originally in the transport industry, in railways and shipping and port management. From here Chris moved into management development, joining The Industrial Society (now The Work Foundation) as a Management and Training Adviser, working with a wide range of organisations in Southern England.

Manager of Business Training with Cable & Wireless plc immediately after privatisation, Chris helped develop a training strategy for the newly privatised company both in the UK and overseas.

Chris is Director of his own business, CPA Management Development and Consultancy.

Chris works as a trainer and consultant for a range of private sector and public sector organisations throughout the UK. Current clients include HSBC Bank, Siemens Medical Solutions, Specsavers Optical Group, Fortis Group and Cornwall County Education Department.

Chris is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management, a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a Companion Member of the Chartered Institute of Customer Service.


Andrea Moffat

Andrea MoffatAndrea is a Training and Management Consultant of with experience across the private, public and voluntary sectors both as employee and consultant. Andrea has a passion for training people to learn, a more sustainable approach than training people to be trained.

She is a dynamic, enthusiastic and energetic trainer. She believes in working with the cultures of her clients and yet is able to challenge appropriately and sensitively. A graduate of German, Andrea has designed and delivered training courses in German in management development and performance management. German clients comment positively on Andrea's linguistic ability and also on her sensitivity to local issues requiring participants to reflect.

Andrea's portfolio includes the design and delivery of courses, facilitation, Open Learning Consultancy writing training materials and Investors in People consultancy.

In 2001 Andrea designed and delivered an intensive Equal Opportunities programme within a Unitary Authority, training 1400 staff in under 18 months. In addition she presented to councillors, wrote for the staff newsletter and worked with subgroups on race and disability. The programme itself involved innovative exercises on language in Equal Opportunities, the law, prejudice and the organisational policy.

An active member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Andrea completed a 3-year office as Chair of the Gloucestershire Branch in 2002. Andrea is co-author of The Competencies Activity Pack published by Fenman Training in August, 2002.


Roger Pattison

Roger Pattison Roger is a HR Development and Management professional who has worked extensively in both the public and private sectors, both in the UK and overseas. His career originated in Research and Development and Operations moving to management training. Roger was made Staff Development Manager for Astra Training Services and where he was responsible for managing instrumental change throughout the 46 training centres that the company operated.

Rogers is able to design, develop, train, facilitate, evaluate and offer consultancy advice to support increased knowledge, skills and understanding related to all aspects of people development.

Roger is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management, with a Masters Degree in Human Resources Development and a Diploma in Training Management.

Roger has worked for Cable & Wireless plc, Ford-Jaguar, Balfour Beatty and the Royal Mail. More recently he has been working extensively in Armenia, Georgia and Romania with PriceWaterHouseCoopers and IFOA on public sector reform programmes and Vocational Education and Training projects.

He is the co-author of The Competencies Activity Pack, a best seller published by Fenman Training. He is also a Director of Zynia Ltd, who design and develop training packs that use stories as a tool to develop people and their organisations

 


Janet Basford

Janet BasfordJan has spent the last 25 years working within the recruitment and selection field and has much hands on experience gained whilst working in various business sectors including directly in the employment agency world.

Jan specialises in delivering training courses associated with recruitment and selection and has worked with the professional body for the recruitment industry The Recruitment & Employment Confederation for a number of years.

Additionally Jan is a qualified NVQ/VQ Assessor and works within businesses and schools supporting candidates through a variety of qualifications.

She is a director of OPD Consulting Ltd trading as Orchard People Development and also a fellow founder director of Zynia Ltd offering Telling Tales, a training resource to liven up your sessions with thought-provoking and stimulating stories to help develop your people. Each pack contains a CD with 75 minutes of stories on the themes of Communication, Leadership, Change, Customers, Diversity and Teams.

Stephen Cowburn

Stephen CowburnStephen has over twenty years experience in Organisational Development, Human Resources, Training and Coaching. Initially Stephen worked for The Industrial Society before moving to Cable & Wireless plc. Following that he held senior management roles in law and accountancy firms before setting up his own business in 1999.

Stephen’s specialises in organisational development, HR consultancy and individual and group coaching for middle and senior managers across a wide range of industry sectors.

Organisational development projects he has recently been involved in have been in facilitating strategy definition and business planning, linking performance review into KPIs, and linking the outcomes of staff surveys into a revised HR strategy.

He provides HR consultancy and advisory services to small and medium sized businesses who look for a combination of services from compliance and risk management, through to establishing an approach to people that will help grow the performance and development of the people in their organisation.

As an accredited coach, Stephen works with Directors and Managers in areas such as personal and career development, leadership support, and transitioning into new roles.

He holds an MBA from Cranfield University, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and an accredited coach with the International Coach Federation.


Tom Flatau BA, MSc

Tom FlatauTom Flatau is an associate of Chris Phillips Associates Ltd and is a consultant, coach and trainer, with over 20 year experience with some of the world’s largest companies. His passion is to help his clients routinely achieve “the impossible” – to materialise business benefits that are beyond their current thinking and capability. “We challenge people’s assumptions and mind-sets, dismantling any barriers to success, to give access to previously unobtainable results.”

Management of large companies should be exciting – success can be measured by the extent to which we capture people's imagination. Only when people are fulfilling their own dreams can they give 100% to their organisation.

Tom’s career has moved from information systems management to his current areas of speciality in organisational and personal change, team working, coaching, and leadership. Tom is also responsible for company strategy and business development. When not at work, Tom devotes his time to his family, sailing, and to his rock band.

Derek Browne  FRCGP FRIPH MRCP

Derek BrowneDr Derek Browne FRCGP FRIPH MRCP has been a general practitioner in a New Forest rural practice for 27 years and during this time has also been Medical Adviser in health promotion to the Southampton Health District.

Derek has promoted a positive health approach to disease, illness and well-being in the workplace and in the home. He was the first General Practitioner to prescribe exercise for health as an “Exercise on Prescription”. His medical practice was recognised as a first by the World Health Organisation for its innovative “ Healthy Village” approach to well-being, which was also awarded a “Beacon Practice” status by the NHS.

Derek was Chairman of the Royal College of General Practitioners rural health group for three years. He lectures extensively locally, nationally and internationally on positive health and well-being and the “healthy village” model of health and social care.

He is currently a trustee of the Pioneer Health Foundation, a charity promoting an holistic approach to community health. He is also a trustee for Age Concern Hampshire.

Derek is a great supporter of a positive approach to managing pressure in the workplace.

Derek’s hobbies include golf, travelling, reading and supporting his local church. He has run about 15 marathons but usually comes in the last group of runners at the finish!


Jonathan Saunders

Jonathan SaundersJonathan is a specialist in business, HR and organisational development consultancy, coaching and manager development. He works in a wide range of organisations up to board level, both within the private and public sector. These have ranged from small engineering contractors to national and global PLCs in sectors as broad as construction, government, facilities management and health.

Before becoming a consultant Jonathan’s background was in banking with Barclays Bank. Here he managed a number of large departments, spent time as Training Manager before becoming Recruitment and Selection Manager for the UK bank.

A major part of Jonathan’s consultancy work centres around organisation and personal development, HR and system design, competence models and business consultancy. A key motivation is finding effective, innovative and “easy to use” solutions to add value not simply effort.

Jonathan is qualified Specialist Investors in People (IiP) Assessor and Advisor. To date he has successfully helped/helping 145 companies to achieve IiP and Assessed/Reviewed a further 81. He has also trained Advisors and Assessors new to the IiP standard. He is a qualified European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Excellence Model Assessor. He is also qualified in Chartermark. Qualified in Occupational and Personality Profiling and Assessment Centres.

Jonathan is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development, a Member of the Institute of Business Consultants, a Member of the Institute of Directors and an Associate of Chartered Institute of Bankers.
